Mission: The King, The Director, and The Admiral

"Thank you for coming. On behalf of the fleet and the family of Admiral Neral I welcome you to this service of remembrance." Tyrus' mouth moved slightly, but no words came out for a second. He looked down at the notes on his PADD, "All who knew her would know exactly how furious at us she'd be that we're taking hours to talk about her, I mean honestly, she's swearing at us from beyond right now. The hardest part for me is that I am the least deserving person of this honor, to open, and close this service. From day one, she was suspicious of my motives, and with good reason, and now, when one who knew her better than anyone should be up here, it is me." His voice was slow and measured, the tone muted with consideration and sadness, with pauses interlacing the words, accenting his speech in ways few had ever heard. Gallant had a reputation for being a man of few, but very succinct words, always well planned, but now he was wandering, "I DREAMED that one had died in a strange place
Near no accustomed hand,
And they had nailed the boards above her face,
The peasants of that land,
Wondering to lay her in that solitude,
And raised above her mound
A cross they had made out of two bits of wood,
And planted cypress round;
And left her to the indifferent stars above
Until I carved these words:
She was more beautiful than thy first love,
But now lies under boards.
Gallant shifted slightly, then cleared his throat again, "I open the floor for any who wish to speak."

Tyrus stepped off the platform, unable to look at the casket, and headed towards the door

Maris glanced about seeing no one move, knowing his Cousin and ghee father would remain silent or even show. Squeezing Nekota's hand he rose and approached the platform. "My name is Maris Neral Redker. I am the nephew of Admiral Jules Neral. Though I didn't know her long, I learned a lot about her and the life she lead. Her life from the days before the fleet and her hardships she overcame, then joined the fleet developing an encryption format that the fleet still uses. She took every change a challenge and worked her way up the ranks to become CinC of this fleet.

Unfortunately her life with the fleet took its toll on her private life with a man she cared for even after they split, she had a loving son from her other life, who she did all she could to give him a better life, only to loose him due to her ex husbands past. With that man she bore him a daughter, and almost lost her life doing it, but the poison fed that child by lies and anger, has left no one but me to tell you all as you all know if you ever dealt with Admiral Neral, that this Fleet lost a good person and I vow I'll avenge her senseless death." Nodding, Maris walked to Jules casket pulled a white Rose from the arrangement and placed it on her folded hands.

Watching Jules' nephew step down Darj stood up and walked to the podium. Turning around he looked at the people gathered. He shook his head a little. Knowing how Jules what he thought that more people would be here.

"I've known Jules for a long time. The first time that I met her was on the USS Gaia. Our previous Commanding Officer had left the ship and she was sent to replace her. The entire crew including our XO was not very welcoming to her. They had all been good friends with Captain Tilly Rises. Most of them had followed her from the Magma under Ba'real." Darj paused for a second as memories flowed back into him.

"It was the last mission of the Gaia before it was to be mothballed. I remember Jules coming up to me and asking me to follow her unto her next command. I was surprised by this as I had never really stood out among the crew. I had always kept to myself. But she told me that she saw something in me. So I had accepted. Her next command was the USS Stealth. Where much to my surprise she had given me the position of her XO. I was just a mere Science Officer before and she had given me her right hand. After a few short months on the Stealth together we were both transferred to the Enterprise.

But I remember the nights that we shared. The nights where we would talk about all of our past postings. She was always fascinated by my old Marine stories. Then she finally gained a command position on the Diablos. We spent a lot of time apart but we always kept in touch via vidcom. When Jules was placed in the position of CinC she was so proud. Somehow I got transferred to the Diablos. It doesn't take much thought as to how though." Darj said somberly.

"It is without a doubt that Jules will be missed by anyone who knew her. Even if they don't yet realize it. I have scarcely met someone with more honor or integrity then Jules Neral. We have lost a legend in Juno Fleet. DaH 'e' qabna'Daj lutebjaj tIq, chaq wa' veb bIQuch." Darj said turning to Jules and giving her a Klingon salute.

Rowena rose next, moving with the grace of a DeScott, she took the podium. "I've know Jules Neral since her days at the Academy and when Alexandrov realized there was something special about her. I watched as he took her under his wing an mentored her to the woman who took over in his stead when it looked as if the fleet was failing. She brought us back, though at times she had her doubts, but she stood tall even when she was called on the carpet. I just want to say that the loss of this woman will have its affect on the Fleet, and whoever takes her place will have a hard job to fill her shoes." Ro stepped down and back to her sea, her eyes misting some.

Julie stood up next and stood behind the podium. "Jules Neral was my Commanding Officer, my mentor but more importantly she was my friend." Julie wiped a tear from her face. "When I was transferred to this fleet I had no idea what I would be facing, but I was placed as XO of the then Commodore and she took me under her wing, she encouraged me to move on to take the necessary steps to become a Commanding Officer myself and when she became the CinC it was one of the happiest moments i'd thought about." Julie turned and placed hand on the casket. "Seven years we knew each other but it has been a blast." She stepped back made a salute and returned to her seat, her make up ruined from the tears and pain.

Zen could not believe the crap these people were saying about her mother. Did her mother really scammed all these people, deciding she'd tell them the truth. Stepping from the shadows she took the podium. "You people are so blinded by what is the truth. Jules Neral was a theif, a lier and could make anyone think she was a damn god. How can you people think she was so good. Hell she abandoned her own children. Her son Lucifer then ran and left him to be raised by his father. A pirate that Jules was part of his hideous crimes. Then there was me. I wasn't even two when she left me and my father because her life of the fleet and her love for Aleksi DeScott was more important. Your all idiots to think she was so wonderful. She was nothing but a theif, guttersnipe , and would do anything for fame and personal glory including murder." Pausing then bringing to mind other horrible things she believed her mother did.

"And my Brother was a genocidal maniac..." Sam's voice echoed in the room as he walked in, late because the Enterprise had run into some light trouble, "...and your father invented a weapon of mass destruction, that he once used on me, I might add." As he walked towards the podium the room was silent as the grave except for the clack of his boots on the polished marble floor. He wore the battle uniform, black like most Juno Fleet uniforms, with heavy boots and a metallic belt, with a phaser hanging at his hip, "Your mother was many things, Zen, but her faults did not undo her achievements, no matter how much you want it too."

He reached the podium and locked eyes with the young woman, he spoke softer now, his words only for her, "This ceremony isn't for your mother, Zen. If it was, we'd have had it before she died, this ceremony is for you, for me, for everyone in this fleet, the words spoken here are memories, biased just as yours are by our experiences, but true enough as they stand." He extended his gloved hand to her and motioned towards the casket, "You need to tell her how you feel, then you need to forgive her, not for her, but for you,"

"Forgive her? For what, for not being there when I needed her most. For not being there when a daughter needs her mother. No, there is nothing to forgive. I know that what my father said about her was true. He was the only one who cared about me, other than Ryan, but he died and by your brothers hands. Only Dad and the people of the Home World ever cared. This is not for me as you say but to glorify this witch and the lies she suckered you all into." Zen said with conviction, then turned and spit on her mother's casket.
